Dr. Pat Chung, Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy, has recently had a paper published from a qualitative study in which she investigated how family carers, reaffirm and promote the ‘agency’ of people with dementia. In the paper, Pat discusses how agency is a crucial concept to the promotion of wellbeing and to the delivery of effective person-centred care. The implications for the creation of dementia-friendly communities are also discussed.
