Disclosure and Barring Process

As a student occupational therapist, at the point of applying, you will need to be aware of the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).  This body replaced the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) checks.  This is needed as to be a student health care professional, you will be working with some vulnerable people, so you need to be of good character and be trustworthy.

Further details regarding this will be sent out to you directly from our Admissions department once you are called for interview.

This is a government run service that employers as well as regulatory bodies  and universities access.  You can find further details on how it works. here.    You can track your application online, and once you receive your certificate you will need to keep it safe.   You will need to produce this every time you go out onto placement.  Should you be unlucky enough to lose this, you will be responsible for replacing it in time so as not to affect your placement.

Advice here is keep it safe, where you can find it!
