Why Canterbury Christ Church University?

Occupational therapy

Studying for your degree in occupational therapy at Canterbury Christ Church University will mean you join a friendly community of almost 20,000 staff and students in the stunning, historic county of Kent.

Our students tell us they really enjoy their experience of studying here and we’re proud of our record for producing graduates with great job prospects ahead of them.

Our full-time, 3 year BSc  (Hons) Occupational Therapy programme runs at the Canterbury campus from September of each year. It is one of nine pathways within the Faculty of Health and Well-being pre-registration inter-professional learning programme. Some of your learning will therefore take place with other health and social care students, such as Social Workers and Adult Nursing, thus enabling you to learn about and experience inter-professional collaborative working.

Service users such as ex-clients of occupational therapy services, their carers and their families play an integral role in the delivery of many of our modules, thus providing further insight into meeting the diverse needs of our clients across the lifespan.

People choose us because of the excellent reputation of our friendly and approachable teaching staff. All members of the academic staff are HCPC registered occupational therapists, members of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (although we do have an occupational therapy friendly physiotherapist on the team too!), and have teaching qualifications, Masters degrees plus some, with Doctorates.

Throughout the 3 years, each student on the programme has a personal academic tutor from within the occupational therapy academic team to provide support to enable you to succeed.

Our students are also able to make the most of our award-winning  IT facilities; Augustine House, our library and learning resource centre; sports facilities, and excellent support services to help you get the best out of life at university and to prepare you for your future career. Click here to find out more about these facilities and more of what we have to offer our students.

Finally, as we’recampus map of kent just one hour from London by high-speed train, a short distance from outstanding blue flag beaches, and a stone’s throw away from France, our students have lots to look forward to whilst studying in Canterbury.
